Pop Culture Tragedy is the latest project of Josh Stoik, a writer, programmer, short film maker… in other words, do-er of odd things. Josh and I have been close friends and business partners in a variety of enterprises over the years. The conversation regarding the tetrapus logo (the character is not an octopus at a weird angle — it truly has four legs) went something like this:
“Kevin… need a name, and a logo. Make it weird, make an… octopus, kinda. And make it tattoo-able.”
We discussed colors and chose orange for it’s brightness and connection with previous Stoik projects. We decided on four legs for the creature as it allowed it to remain flat and featureless, though slightly menacing. Ultimately, we flipped it over (as are all headlines and headers with Pop Culture Tragedy) to play into the mildly subversive, quirky quality to
PCT.
